Today marks my sixth year on DeviantART.
I was working in the marketing office for the UCCS Bookstore when *Xenodia told me all about DeviantART. She told me how she was posting her photographs and artwork on there and suggested I join. At first I thought, "What the hell... it's just another website like myspace." Yes, I had a myspace back then. I also had a facebook when they only allowed college and high school students to use it. Crazy.
I posted some painting stuff I was experimenting with, mostly to shut up the art instructor at UCCS who said art wasn't for me. I posted some photos I took for marketing and for leisure. I really didn't think much about it at the time. Then I started posting some of my pumpkin carvings and costumes. I really didn't think dA would be a place to enjoy it but I was quickly proven wrong.
Over the years, I could tell my stuff got better with time. My writing became more fluid-like, my carvings became more detailed, even my beanies when from normal to BAM LOGOS! Here are just a few examples:
In 2006 and 2008, I carved Hank and Tricky from Madness Combat.
In 2010, I carved Wile E Coyote, Urz from Mass Effect, and Battleblock Theater (which won first place at Behemoth's Halloween Contest)

Then last year, I carved six pumpkins with Mass Effect, Madness Combat, Castle Crashers, and such.

My costumes started simple then got progressively more complex.

Even my props saw improvements. The Cain also received my very first Daily Deviation.

I am a true believer that things will happen to those who work really hard. I spend nearly every waking moment working on something. I will continue to strive to become better in everything I do. From writing to crafting to cosplaying to carving. Even if it consumes me! Wait... it already has... oh well. I can guarantee you that you won't be disappointed with the costumes to come... especially the ones I'm working on right now. I can honestly tell you that you will love the pumpkins I will be carving this year. And I know you'll enjoy reading the chapters I've been planning. I strive to make things people will love as much as I enjoy making them.
Anyway, here's to another year on DeviantART! *cheers*
